Palm Shores Bistro-Palm Shores/N. Melbourne 4 Stars
I am so proud to be a middle aged adult during this new American food revolution that has been sweeping the country over the last 15 years. I dream of a day when the hash slingers of yore are no longer in business and restaurants like the Palm Shores Bistro rule the landscape.
When you walk through the door you are greeted with a panoply of gustatory delights ranging from homemade cakes and pies to sweet rolls and cookies. The Big Boy knew he would be getting bigger after this morning.
I was greeted by a friendly lady Tina who provided excellent service. I perused the menu. This is one of those menus you think wow could I get a sampler plate. Tina dutifully answered all of my questions and I settled on Mardi Gras shrimp and grits and the Captain Crunch French Toast.
The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the grits were creamy the way grits are supposed to be. The spices and seasoning were spot on. Perfect execution and technique. So if all this laudatory praise why only 4 stars? The French toast was just that French toast. You would never know Captain Crunch had anything to do with the dish. The design of this dish was not well thought out. I have attached a photograph. If it was just French toast then it would be average. As CC French toast it misses the mark.
I took home sweet rolls and a slice of cake all were fantastically baked. Big Boy says give it a try.
